Description

This 5‑on‑5 program gives young athletes in Canyon County Optimist Football the chance to play the same fast‑paced flag football that will be featured in the 2028 Olympics. Girls learn the fundamentals of football in one of the most exciting developments since Optimist Youth Football was founded in the Treasure Valley more than 75 years ago.

 

This league is about more than competition. It focuses on teamwork, confidence, and core skills that empower young athletes to grow, have fun, and shine on and off the football field.

 

Practices begin Monday, August 10th, and games start August 24th

Games are played on Mondays and Thursday through October 5th

(no games Saturday, September 5th for the Labor Day holiday).

 

 Athletes are provided game jerseys and flags, and coaches are supplied with training equipment.

 Players are only responsible for cleats, shorts, and a mouthguard. Optimist partners like Scheels are proud to assist with proper fitting.

 Games are played on Monday and Wednesday evenings at the Boise Youth Sports Complex in Boise.

 Optimist Youth Football’s partner, Saint Alphonsus, provides Certified Athletic Trainers on‑site on game days to support athletes’ safety and health.
